Scott Seamands, CPA
Partner
“I always enjoy helping my clients and explaining technical, complex issues in ways they can understand. I want to be a resource for them.”
During his tenure as head of the Audit Department, Scott Seamands increased the number of audits performed annually by tenfold, making Lindquist, von Husen & Joyce LLP into an audit powerhouse. In addition to handling many of the firm’s clients in the areas of real estate development and management, not-for-profit organizations, and construction contractors, Scott is an expert witness in the area of construction accounting.
Scott also works with clients in retail, manufacturing and professional services. He joined the firm in 1980 and had served as the head of the firm's Audit Department and Quality Control function until 2008. He has been Chairman of the firm’s Management Committee since 1994.
Scott is known for walking his clients through technical issues as well as being diplomatic and easy to work with.
Clients appreciate working with Scott because:
- He learns about his clients’ motivations so he can put himself in their position and understand their goals
- His high level of integrity and ability to move projects forward
- His deep experience in a variety of industries
- The thorough audits his department delivers that come in on time and on budget
He has performed dozens of peer reviews of other CPA firms around the country on behalf of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of CPAs. He also serves as editor of the firm’s quarterly general business publication Footnotes, and has contributed a number of articles to the firm’s publications.
Scott is a second generation accountant, with both of his parents working as accountants. Early on he showed a knack for accounting because of his ability with mathematics and his desire to keep things in the right place. Scott majored in both Accounting and Music at San Francisco State University, with a focus on music composition. He plays piano and guitar and credits the correlation between being good at mathematics and having a talent for music for his musical leanings.
