January 2012
Moving into 2012, LvHJ has the honor of naming two new partners to the firm. Many of you will recognize them from our Audit & Attestation Department!

Cathy Hwang, CPA, joined the firm in October 2000 and became a principal in January 2005. She works with clients in the areas of manufacturing, professional service corporations, real estate developments, research and development enterprises, and various nonprofit organizations including social services providers, large local affordable housing developers, and real estate property management companies.

Rita Dela Cruz, CPA, joined the firm as an auditor in August 2001 and became a principal in January 2006. She works with not-for-profit organizations with an emphasis on foundations, community development financial institutions and affordable housing developers. Her other areas of specialization include audits of for-profit real estate organizations, affordable housing partnerships, property managers, and social service providers.

We are very fortunate to have both Cathy and Rita in our partner group to steer LvHJ toward a bright future. Please take time to congratulate both of them!

June 2011
In early June, the AICPA held its 2011 Not-for-Profit Industry Conference. Lindquist, von Husen & Joyce, LLP was thrilled that our own Rita Dela Cruz was selected to co-present on "Affordable Housing: Accounting and Auditing Issues." Some of the topics covered in the presentation included:

  • Consolidation vs Combination
  • Treatment of Developer Fee in Consolidated Statements
  • Real Estate Transactions between Related Parties
  • Recording of Forgivable Loans
  • Communicating with Diverse Audited FS Users and Customizing Supplementary Materials

  • If you're interested in learning more about these points, Rita would welcome the opportunity to do a lunch and learn (at no cost) for your organization. She can do the lunch and learn on one of the topics or a combination of them. If you're interested in setting this up, contact Rita B. Dela Cruz at rdelacruz@lvhj.com.

    June 2011
LvHJ Joins AAM – and wins.

    • “When I came on board, we were working with Lindquist and another audit firm at the time. We were very impressed with Lindquist and chose them to handle the entire portfolio when we made the decision to consolidate audit services. They’ve adjusted their services to grow with us."
